Trouble sitting still and meditating?? Looking out for other ways to get the same relaxation benefit?? Consulting with people practicing meditation I found this issue is quite common.I tried out my way to relax through meditation. Fortunately after trying for sometime now I have some tricks to help myself to stick with it and reap the benefits of this practice , from reducing stress to lowering blood pressure. So please don’t give up on meditation and follow these -:
1. Find a comfortable position so that you are less likely to fidget. It’s not written in stone that you must sit cross- legged. Sitting in a chair may make meditation much easier. I will recommend if doing yoga poses even ’ Shavasana ‘ helps you concentrate , GO AHEAD.
2. Focus on your breathing . At first, simply observe each inhalation and exhalation without trying to influence them: Whenever you notice your attention wandering, refocus on your breath.
3. Once you master the above exercise, try counting breaths. Count ”1” to yourself as you exhale , then “2” on your next exhale and so on , until you reach 5. Then start over again at “1”. Start with 5 minutes and work up to 20-30 minutes a day. Or try practising with a mantra –a syllable, word or phrase(peace, Om etc. ) that you repeat either silently or aloud while meditating.
This ancient spiritual practice can help focus scattered thoughts and clear your mind. Its all about concentration. To relax , I simply sometimes concentrate on whatever I am doing –Even eating or washing dishes. You just give a try and relax friends.
