Nowadays, empowerment is a common topic. So, I am talking about my experience on ‘Women’s Empowerment’! Yes, you heard it right! I am stressing on this because it has become a fancy topic for the last couple of years,in the corporates and political world.. Do we really understand the basic need for Empowerment?

Why are we trying to empower only women? It’s known that, Men and women together give birth to a life. We need to empower men and women both to work together for balancing life to give bright future to our boys and girls.

It has to start right from your home!

Do you ever notice little girls and boys playing and pretending to be parents of their teddy’s or imaginary kids and how boy orders girl to do house cleaning? Does anyone ever tell them individual’s responsibility based on gender? No, we don’t. Our generation parents proudly say that, we do not differentiate between a boy and a girl child. Really, is it true? THINK AGAIN!

Question yourself! Yes they are watching us! They are watching how in most of the Indian families father & grandfather are going out or doing nothing much as part of house chores and it is getting registered in their minds that only girls are made to do household chores over years. As girls are tagged to do household chores, Men have been responsible to do the outside work. When kids grow up, they unknowingly get into habits of their parents of respective gender. They feel odd if they try to interchange the responsibilities.

Men and Women both need empowerment to be able to think and share the responsibilities with their partners and to come out of the shell and feel free to do anything that is a need or they like to do without feeling shy or egoistic.

Sometimes I feel, the percentage of partnership should be defined and signed off at marriage ceremony. Sounds funny?

No it’s NOT FUNNY AT ALL. This is not a debate on who is right and who is wrong.

When something is wrong, it’s wrong irrespective of whether you are a girl or a boy. It’s wrong for both, say it LOUD!

Talk about marriages…. People should understand that it's about sharing not leaving up anthing on each other. Shouldn’t there be education on building the relationship and keeping the responsibilities unbiased?

The question to ask ourselves is “How difficult it is to understand or teach anyone that the effort required to fulfil one’s basic need can’t be gender biased?”

I strongly believe that any responsibility, be it cooking, cleaning, earning or giving values….it has to be shared / divided based on abilities but it can’t be based on gender.

Looks like; Parents have complicated their lives between older generations and new generation life style, Children are confused by their elder generation’s dynamic behaviour with complex mathematics, physics and chemistry of relations and results into affecting many lives and relations at different stages of life.

The things can be simplified by adding following ingredients in life with 100% purity.

Ø Respect - Individuals

Ø Trust - Relations

Ø Acceptance - Changes in generation to bridge the gaps

Ø Discipline – To let everyone know in the family, NOT TO BREAK IT

Empower individuals!

It just needs little effort to correct the fundamentals. Let’s do our part of duty.
